Losail Circuit krijgt enorme upgrade voor Formule 1-comeback

De Grand Prix van Qatar keert dit jaar weer terug op de kalender van de Formule 1. De coureurs zullen voor de tweede keer in actie gaan komen op het Losail International Circuit. Als het Formule 1-circus arriveert in Qatar zal alles er anders uitzien dan voorheen, men heeft namelijk grote verbouwingen aangekondigd.

In 2021 werd er tot ieders verrassing voor het eerst geracet in Qatar. De coronapandemie had ervoor gezorgd dat er gaten waren ontstaan op de kalender en Qatar was een soort noodoplossing. De organisatie tekende wel een tienjarige deal met de Formule 1, door het WK voetbal van vorig jaar gaat deze deal dit jaar pas in. Om ervoor te zorgen dat alles Formule 1-waardig is, zijn er grote verbouwingen aangekondigd.

De organisatie van de Grand Prix maakte deze week bekend dat er in de komende maanden veel werkzaamheden worden verricht. Men gaat namelijk een modern pitgebouw bouwen, er worden permanente onderkomens voor de teams gebouwd, het baanoppervlak wordt vernieuwd, de infrastructuur wordt aangepakt en er wordt een nieuw mediacentrum uit de grond gestampt. Deze werkzaamheden zullen naar verwachting klaar zijn als het Formule 1-personeel arriveert voor de Grand Prix in oktober.

Om ervoor te zorgen dat het formule 1 waardig zal zijn moet je hier gewoon niet komen.

Het enige uit de lijst van upgrades dat van enig belang is, is dat het baanoppervlak wordt vernieuwd.
Voor de rest, al slapen ze in nomadententen en komen ze op kamelen naar het circuit, niet één coureur zal er 0.,3 seconde per ronde sneller of langzamer door gaan...

  Echt? vond het tamelijk saai. Met de grip die F1 auto's hebben is het meerendeel van de ronde volgas en het andere deel mediumspeed.
  Alleen het lange rechte stuk met het klein beetje remmen naar bocht 1 is dankzij DRS een inhaalplek.
