Schumacher genoot van testdag: "Enorm veel geleerd"

Mick Schumacher maakte gisteren zijn eerste Formule 1-meters van het jaar. De jonge Duitser werkte voor zijn werkgever Mercedes een bandentest af op het circuit van Barcelona. Schumacher kende een foutloze dag en maakte veel meters. Na afloop gaf hij aan enorm te hebben genoten van zijn test.

Op het circuit van Barcelona werden op dinsdag en woensdag veel rondjes gereden door de teams Mercedes en Ferrari. De twee renstallen werkten de test af om data te verzamelen voor bandenleverancier Pirelli. Ferrari zette Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz in, Mercedes gunde reservecoureur Mick Schumacher een complete testdag. Hierdoor kon hij weer voelen hoe het is om Formule 1-coureur te zijn.

Leren

Schumacher was na afloop zeer trots op zijn eerste Formule 1-meters van 2023. De Duitse coureur voelde zich weer echt coureur en sprak zich uit in een persbericht van Mercedes: "Het was geweldig! Ik heb enorm veel geleerd en het was heel erg leuk. Het was een productieve dag en we hebben alle tests afgewerkt die op de planning stonden. Het was ook fijn om voor het eerst te rijden met banden die geen bandenwarmer nodig hebben. Aangezien ik een tijdje niet heb gereden, was het ook een fysiek zware dag. Het was in ieder geval heel fijn om weer te rijden."

Rol

Schumacher is de reservecoureur van Mercedes, maar verricht ook zeer veel werk op de simulator van het team. Hij denkt ook dat zijn testdag op een andere manier nuttig was: "Ik kan in mijn rol zeker profiteren van deze ervaring. Ik begrijp nu beter van waar we op moeten letten en waar we aan moeten werken. Ik begrijp de procedures en de werkwijze van het team nu ook beter. Dat is heel erg belangrijk voor als ik ooit moet invallen."

Het is nog even wachten op het bericht van ome Ralf dat zijn neefje nu meedenkt over de ontwikkeling van de Mercedes.

  Of dat Lewis z’n tijd er wel op zit bij Mercedes en plaats moet maken voor Mick.
  Zeker ma de veelbelovende test waar Mick pure snelheid heeft getoond en de wagen 0,5 sec sneller heeft gemaakt.
  Oproep aan Toto is dus om hier snel werk van te maken.

Vreemd, pas geleden liepen Toto en Lewis nog te bleiren dat dat ze zoveel van Mick zijn simulatie werk geleerd hadden. Zou die simulatie dan in een andere auto geweest zijn?! :-))))))
