'Positieve gesprekken tussen Spa en Formule 1 over nieuw contract'

Het begint er steeds meer op te lijken dat de Belgische Grand Prix ook in 2024 weer op de Formule 1-kalender staat. De race beschikt over een aflopend contract, maar de kans is groot dat dit contract weer wordt verlengd. Er zouden namelijk positieve gesprekken hebben plaatsgevonden tussen de Belgen en de top van de Formule 1.

De Belgische Grand Prix op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps is een populaire race onder de fans van de sport. Het circuit is tevens zeer geliefd bij de coureurs, maar toch leek het er geruime tijd op dat de Formule 1 de race wilde slachtofferen. Door de groeiende kalender en de grote interesse in het organiseren van een Grand Prix, staan historische races onder druk. Spa leek het eerste slachtoffer te worden, maar gesprekken tussen de Formule 1 en Zuid-Afrika liepen stuk.

Hierdoor groeiden de kansen van België en inmiddels begint het eerst steeds meer op te lijken dat de race ook in 2024 wordt verreden. Het Belgische medium RTBF meldt dat er zeer positieve gesprekken hebben plaatsgevonden tussen Spa en de hoge heren van de Formule 1. Het medium meldt dat er nog niets op papier staat, maar dat de kans groot is dat er snel meer naar buiten zal gaan komen. Het is alleen nog niet helemaal duidelijk of het gaat om een langer contract, of een nieuwe deal van één jaar.
