Formule 1 zamelt groot bedrag in voor slachtoffers Emilia-Romagna na geslaagde veilingactie

In navolging van Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc, heeft ook de Formule 1 met succes een veilingactie gehouden. In samenwerking met de organisatoren van de onlangs afgelaste Grand Prix van Emilia-Romagna kon de sport een bijzondere kans voor fans met een goedgevulde portemonnee creëren. Alle trofeeën, die oorspronkelijk aan de podiumklanten zouden worden uitgedeeld, werden aan het publiek geveild, en hebben in totaal een bedrag van ruim 287.000 euro opgehaald.

De Grand Prix van Emilia-Romagna zou oorspronkelijk race nummer vijf van dit F1-seizoen zijn, maar werd vanwege het hevige noodweer in de regio afgelast. De regenval legde de gehele omgeving plat, en wist voor vele overstromingen in het Noord-Italiaanse gebied te zorgen.

Terwijl de Formule 1 de race op Imola passeerde en vervolgens richting Monaco trok, heeft het toch nog haar hulp aan de getroffen regio kunnen aanbieden. Zo kon niet alleen Charles Leclerc zijn Monaco-uniform met succes veilen, maar wist ook de Formule 1 alle trofeeën van de Grand Prix op Imola aan het publiek te koop bieden.

Pirelli en drankproducent Ferrari Trento wisten de veilingactie nóg specialer te maken. Naast de bekers, die door alle twintig F1-coureurs en tien teambazen werden gesigneerd, werd ook een Pirelli-band aan het pakket toegevoegd, dat normaliter aan de coureur wordt uitgedeeld die pole position weet te pakken. Tevens wist Ferrari Trento een fles van haar wijn toe te voegen.

De bovenstaande items werden in totaal voor ruim 247.000 Britse Pond geveild, wat grofweg vertaald kan worden naar zo'n 287.000 euro. Het gehele bedrag zal aan de regio Emilia-Romagna worden gedoneerd, om zo de slachtoffers en autoriteiten te helpen om het getroffen gebied weer te herstellen.
