Alleen Albon krijgt nieuwe Williams-updates in Canada

Het team van Williams is niet op de gewenste wijze aan het huidige Formule 1-seizoen begonnen. De Britse renstal staat op de laatste plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap en wil dan ook een inhaalslag plegen. In Canada verschijnt het team aan de start met updates, maar wel alleen op de auto van Alexander Albon.

Het team van Williams heeft dit seizoen nog maar één WK-puntje gescoord. Dit punt staat op naam van Albon. De Thaise Brit presteerde zeker niet slecht in de eerste races, maar had veel pech en kende een zware crash in Australië. Debutant Logan Sargeant kent een lastigere seizoenstart. De Amerikaanse coureur is nog niet zo snel als Albon en worstelt nog met zijn vorm.

In Canada wil het team het verschil met de concurrentie gaan verkleinen. Men neemt dan ook een nieuw updatepakket mee naar het circuit in Montreal. De updates zijn alleen voor Albon, zo legt Head of Vehicle Performance Dave Robson uit: "Het circuit in Montreal past waarschijnlijk iets beter bij onze auto dan de circuits in Monaco en Barcelona. We nemen meerdere nieuwe onderdelen mee, deze zitten allemaal op de auto van Alex. We verwachten dat we hier competitiever kunnen zien. We nemen op vrijdag in ieder geval de tijd om de updates te leren kennen."

Jammer voor Logan Sargeant, maar wellicht hebben ze geen geld om het voor hem ook te regelen of ze verwachten dat het bij hem toch niets gaat helpen...
