Piastri kijkt uit naar eerste race op 'coole' Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

Formule 1-rookie Oscar Piastri heeft een weekend om naar uit te kijken. De Australische jongeling, die in zijn debuutseizoen tot nu toe uitstekend presteert, zal voor het eerst op Circuit Gilles Villeneuve gaan racen. De McLaren-coureur kijkt ernaar uit om de karakteristieken van het circuit te leren kennen, dat volgens hem op een stratencircuit lijkt.

Formule 1-rookie Oscar Piastri heeft dit seizoen al twee nieuwe circuits ontdekt. Notabene de Australische Grand Prix, zijn thuisrace, en de Miami Grand Prix waren beiden locaties waar Piastri voor de start van zijn carrière in de koningsklasse nog nooit eerder had geracet. Dit weekend komt daar een derde locatie bij; namelijk Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

"Ik kijk er erg naar uit. Nu moet ik mijn mindset weer even aanpassen, omdat ik natuurlijk de karakteristieken van het circuit moet leren. Canada is eigenlijk een stratencircuit, aangezien de muren dicht op de baan zitten. Dat moet je natuurlijk in het achterhoofd houden, maar ik heb er zin in om weer een nieuw circuit te leren."

"Ik heb nog niet veel ronden op de sim gereden", vervolgt Piastri over zijn kennismaking met de baan. "Volgens mij is het een cool circuit. Je hebt natuurlijk een lang recht stuk waar je kan inhalen, en waar je vervolgens bij de chicane op het randje zal zitten. Ik kijk er naar uit."
