Stella: Komende races introduceert McLaren nieuwe versie MCL60-auto

Volgens McLaren-teambaas Andrea Stella hoeven fans niet lang meer te wachten. De Italiaanse ingenieur van oorsprong meent namelijk dat zijn team de aankomende races grote nieuwe upgradepakketten aan de auto gaat introduceren, wat hen dichter bij de topteams zou moeten brengen. 

Het Formule 1-team van McLaren heeft na vorig jaar, ook in 2023 een valse start gemaakt. De papajagekleurde renstal had vooraf aan de start van dit seizoen grote verwachtingen, maar bleef opnieuw stevig in het middenveld hangen. Maar, volgens Andrea Stella, McLaren's teambaas sinds dit jaar, gaat daar zeer binnenkort verandering in komen. 

"We kijken uit naar Oostenrijk. Dan hebben we eindelijk maar toch upgrades voor onze MCL60 gereed staan. Het heeft een lange tijd geduurd om de auto opnieuw te ontwerpen. We wisten dat we voor een groot her-design van de auto moesten gaan, om zo in de toekomst weer competitiever te worden. Deze aankomende races gaan we meerdere fases van upgrades aan de wagen introduceren. Dat zal ons een flinke stap voorwaarts wat betreft rondetijden brengen, en zullen we met de nieuwe onderdelen beter kunnen racen."

    Ben wel benieuwd. De kwalificaties zagen er de laatste tijd toch best redelijk tot prima uit... alleen in de races viel het dan toch weer tegen. 2 races terug kwam dat doordat Norris zelf een fout maakte, maar de afgelopen race in Canada was de race pace voor mijn gevoel ook niet "je van het". Ik ben benieuwd of het ze in ieder geval voorbij Alpine gaat brengen.
