Oostenrijkse Grand Prix verlengt contract tot en met 2030

Dit weekend wordt de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix verreden op de Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. De tribunes zitten propvol en voorlopig kan men nog wel eventjes blijven genieten van de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix. De Formule 1 heeft vandaag namelijk bekend gemaakt dat het contract is verlengd tot en met 2030.

Eerder dit jaar tekende de Oostenrijkers al een nieuw contract, toen werd er een deal gesloten waardoor de Grand Prix tot en met 2027 op de kalender zou staan. Vandaag werd duidelijk dat de Formule 1-organisatie en promotor Projekt Spielberg GmbH & Co KG. een nieuwe deal hebben gesloten. Hierdoor is duidelijk geworden dat deze Europese Grand Prix voorlopig niet zal verdwijnen.

De eerste keer dat de Oostenrijkse Grand Prix op de kalender stond, was in 1964. Vanaf 1970 tot en met 1987 stond de Grand Prix weer op de kalender om daarna in 1997 terug te keren. Na 2003 verdween de Grand Prix weer en in 2014 maakte deze race een comeback op de vernieuwde Red Bull Ring. Max Verstappen was sindsdien zeer succesvol en schreef de race in 2018, 2019 en 2021 op zijn naam. Vandaag kan hij zijn vierde zege boeken.
