Mercedes eert Britse marshalls die hielpen bij Zhou-incident

De Britse Grand Prix van vorig seizoen was een enorm spektakelstuk. Bij de start ging het mis voor Guanyu Zhou, hij vloog over de kop en belandde tussen het hek en de bandenstapels in. Mercedes-coureur George Russell hielp de marshalls bij het bevrijden van Zhou, hij heeft de desbetreffende marshalls nu een cadeau gegeven.

De marshalls waren snel ter plekke en beoordeelden de situatie van Zhou. De Chinese Alfa Romeo-coureur was in orde, maar op dat moment was dit nog niet duidelijk. Russell stapte hij zijn Mercedes en assisteerde de marshalls bij het bevrijden van zijn collega. Mercedes bedankte de marshalls en nodigde ze uit op de fabriek in Brackley. Deze week kregen ze daar een rondleiding en een persoonlijk bedankje van Russell.

    Mooi gebaar, alleen een jaar na dato vind ik dat meer een actie om zelf weer in de picture te komen.

      Zouden ze volgens jaar de Marshals eren die Max twee jaren geleden hebben gered uit de bandenstapels?

      Idd een mooi gebaar, maar eigenlijk had ik een dergelijke actie eerder van het team van Alfa verwacht, met Zhou als stralend middelpunt, want dit had ook heel erg fout kunnen aflopen daar op die zeer moeilijk bereikbare plek.

      Ze hebben gewoon goed gehandeld zoals het hoort. Of iemand gewond is weet je niet, das achteraf gepraat.
      Maar een publiciteits dingetje is het wel en alleen maar omdat het op silverstone was.

      Mooi even de aandacht afleiden van het feit dat sjors hem daar hoogstpersoonlijk in die situatie had gebracht! En daarna uitgestapt om te helpen?!? Ja tuurlijk, was gewoon van schrik, omdat hij besefte wat hij veroorzaakt had. Daarna ook nog janken dat de regels aangepast moeten worden omdat hij door zijn 'hulp' niet meer aan de herstart mocht meedoen.. Schijnheilig gedoe!
      Tja, ik reken mezelf niet tot de sjors-supporters, maar dat zal duidelijk zijn :-)

    Als Mercedes elke Marshall in het zonnetje m gaat zetten, zijn ze nog wel even bezig denk. 😂

    Ahem, vergeten we niet een belangrijk detail, namelijk dat Russell ook verantwoordelijk was voor de situatie van Zhou?

    Komt een beetje over als een scène uit The Office US waarin Michael Scott het personeel inlicht over het ongeluk van een collega en pas na een paar vragen van het personeel hij toegeeft dat hij degene was die haar aanreed.
