AlphaTauri gaat geen onderdelen kopiëren van Red Bull: "Daar komt de FIA snel achter"

Enkele weken werd bekend dat Red Bull Racing en AlphaTauri nauwer gaan samenwerken. De Italiaanse zusterrenstal van Red Bull is dat jaar bezig met een teleurstellend seizoen in de Formule 1. Het team krijgt een nieuwe naam, zal voor een deel naar Engeland gaan verhuizen en zal volgens Peter Bayer ook onderdelen gaan gebruiken van Red Bull.

AlphaTauri beleeft zware tijden in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De renstal staat momenteel op de laatste plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap met slechts twee WK-punten. Yuki Tsunoda is verantwoordelijk voor de punten, zijn teamgenoot Nyck de Vries is bezig met een lastig seizoen. Hij heeft nog geen enkel puntje gescoord en zijn positie staat onder grote druk.

Achter de schermen zijn de voorbereidingen op het aanstaande seizoen in volle gang. Kersvers AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer laat in gesprek met Servus TV weten hoe de samenwerking er ongeveer uit gaat zien: "We kunnen de auto van Red Bull niet zomaar gaan kopiëren. De FIA komt daar relatief snel achter namelijk. We mogen volgens de regels wel een aantal onderdelen overnemen van Red Bull Racing. We moeten echter wel zelf de centrale punten zoals de aerodynamica zelf gaan ontwikkelen."
