Albon haalt opgelucht adem: "Race had geen ronde langer moeten duren"

Alexander Albon maakte afgelopen weekend veel indruk in de Britse Grand Prix. De Thaise Williams-coureur eindigde in alle vrije trainingen in de top drie en kwam als achtste over de streep in de race. Hij kon strijden met veel sterkere coureurs, maar geeft wel toe dat de race geen ronde langer had moeten duren.

Albon is bezig met een aardige reeks in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De Thaise Brit is bijna elk raceweekend sneller dan zijn teamgenoot Logan Sargeant en reed op het circuit van Silverstone zijn beste weekend van het seizoen tot nu toe. In de race profiteerde Albon van de Safety Car-fase en wisselde hij naar de zachte banden. Hierdoor kon hij de strijd aangaan met de Ferrari's en Fernando Alonso.

Albon was blij dat de race niet nog langer duurde dan hij nu deed. De Thaise coureur denkt dat hij anders in de problemen was gekomen. Hij wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com: "Die Safety Car kwam op een perfect moment, ik verheugde mij helemaal op de herstart. De Ferrari's stonden op de hards en ik kon Carlos inhalen, daarna werd het een listige race. Ik had meer pace dan Fernando en Charles was aan het einde van de race ook snel. Het was een race waar ik twee kanten op keek. Ik had niet gewild dat de race een rondje langer had geduurd, Charles had mij dan ingehaald."

Volgens mij is Albon een van de sterkere coureurs sinds hij zijn draai bij Williams gevonden heeft. Ik denk dat de auteur ‘sterkere teams’ of ‘sterkere auto’s’ bedoelde. 😉

Volgens mij is Albon een van de sterkere coureurs sinds hij zijn draai bij Williams gevonden heeft. Ik denk dat de auteur ‘sterkere teams’ of ‘sterkere auto’s’ bedoelde. 😉

  Wie zaten er eigenlijk achter Albon de laatste rondes. Ben het helemaal vergeten door de hectiek rond de Vries en Ricciardo.

  O. Jaat maar dat moeten de Ferrari's zijn geweest. Dat Albon met die mannen kan vechten en standhouden zegt wel wat over Albon.
