Arrestatiebevel tegen kopstuk van Singaporese Grand Prix

De fraudebestrijding in Singapore is bezig met een groot onderzoek nadat er vorige week een onderzoek werd ingesteld naar de minister van Transport. Ook de Formule 1-wereld wordt nu getroffen, want er is een arrestatiebevel uitgegeven voor één van de kopstukken van de Grand Prix.

Miljardair Ong Beng Seng moet zich volgens meerdere media gaan melden bij de lokale politie in Singapore. Beng Seng zal worden gehoord in een grootschalig onderzoek naar corruptie. Het balletje kwam aan het rollen nadat er eerder dus een onderzoek werd ingesteld naar de Singaporese minister van Transport. Beng Seng zal worden gehoord en moet zijn paspoort inleveren zodra hij voet zet in de stadstaat.

Beng Seng is een belangrijke man voor de Formule 1. Hij speelt een sleutelrol bij het organiseren van de Grand Prix en wordt dan ook gezien als de man die sport naar het kleine staatje heeft gehaald. De organisatie van de Grand Prix heeft nog niet gereageerd op de arrestatie en het is dan ook nog onduidelijk of het arrestatiebevel gevolgen gaat hebben voor de Grand Prix. De kans is klein aangezien de Formule 1 geen twee Grands Prix in één seizoen wil aflassen. De Grand Prix van Singapore heeft nog een contract tot en met 2028.

Heb altijd al gedacht dat er meer aan de hand was met de slechte kwalificatie (p7) van Verstappen in Singapore 2022...
