Heidfeld vindt het te vroeg om aan overstap naar DTM te denken

Nick Heidfeld staat niet onwelwillend tegenover het vervolgen van zijn loopbaan in de DTM, maar eerst gaat hij nog een allerlaatste poging voor een Formule 1-stoeltje wagen. De Duitser was in Oschersleben te gast bij de toerwagenklasse en zal komend weekend in Singapore in de paddock rondlopen om zijn kansen af te tasten.

Heidfeld vertelde aan de Duitse zender ARD: “DTM is een van de hoogste vormen van autosport, maar mijn doel is om volgend jaar weer op de Formule 1-grid te staan. Er zijn niet veel plekken meer beschikbaar, maar er is nog wel wat mogelijk. Dit jaar verliep anders dan gehoopt, maar vanwege mijn prestaties uit het verleden heb ik nog een goede reputatie. Zolang de kans op een Formule 1-zitje bestaat ga ik daar voor. In Singapore zal ik een beetje rondvragen om een beeld van de mogelijkheden te krijgen. Over een mogelijke toekomst in de DTM wil ik nog niet speculeren. De contacten zijn natuurlijk nog goed, maar ik vind het te vroeg om daar aan te denken.”

    Toch vraag ik me af hoe hij zich moet voelen wanneer hij terugkijkt op zijn carriere. Een aantal gemiste kansen, ook wel pech gehad, veel races gereden, een podiumpje hier en daar maar nog nooit een enkele race gewonnen. Vind het wel een sympathieke gast, but nice guys never get laid (or win races..)

      Beste Charlie,

      Ik denk dat dat een goed idee is. Onze Jedi lijkt mij daar geschikt voor aangezien hij de balans tussen een goed coureur en goede mediteerder is, laten we zeggen een Jedi Sentinal. Hij weet wat er speeld in de kop van een coureur en weet de regels daar goed op te interpreteren.

    Wanneer wil ons Heidje dan eens aan een andere klasse gaan denken want ik denk dat zijn naam in de F1 een beetje is uitgebrand, vind hem zowiezo een klassiek voorbeeld van een talent die tijdens zijn carriere verkeerde keuzes heeft gemaakt...
    En na de afgang bij Renault dit jaar zie ik hem niet snel terug komen zoweizo niet bij een (sub)topteam..

      Akkoord dat hij beter andere oorden zou moeten opzoeken.

      Maar over een \'afgang\' bij Renault zou ik het niet hebben.
      Het is en blijft een goed piloot, niet beter dan dat.
