Szafnauer contracteerde al nieuw personeel voor Alpine

Bruno Famin leidt voorlopig het Alpine F1-project. De Fransman neemt het stokje tijdelijk over van Otmar Szafnauer en noemde een verschil van mening over wat er gedaan moet worden om het Franse team naar de top van de Formule 1 te krijgen.

"We zaten niet op dezelfde lijn, over de tijdlijn om het prestatieniveau te halen waar we naar streven. En we zijn wederzijds overeengekomen om onze wegen te scheiden. Dat is het, meer niet", aldus Famin.

Maar hoewel Szafnauer het team niet bekritiseert voor die beslissing, heeft hij wel laten weten dat hij niet genoeg tijd heeft gekregen om het tij te keren. In gesprek met Sky Duitsland zegt hij: "De realiteit is dat veranderingen tijd kosten. Ik heb een aantal goede mensen van andere teams gecontracteerd, maar die zitten nog steeds vast in hun contracten en komen pas in 2024 of 2025."

"Je kunt de ontwikkeling niet echt stimuleren als er geen mensen zijn. Het kost tijd om mensen te laten komen en het kost tijd om mensen op de juiste manier te laten samenwerken. Ik zeg altijd: je kunt niet negen vrouwen zwanger maken en hopen dat je binnen een maand een baby hebt", zo grapte Szafnauer.
