Marko hint op 2024-stoeltje voor Ricciardo

Tegen alle verwachtingen in mocht Daniel Ricciardo in Hongarije zijn comeback maken in de Formule 1. De Australiër verving de teleurstellende Nyck de Vries bij AlphaTauri en hoopt nu voldoende indruk te maken voor een fulltime-stoeltje in 2024. Helmut Marko is nieuwsgierig naar wat Ricciardo kan laten zien.

Ricciardo zat eind vorig jaar zonder stoeltje nadat zijn contract bij het team van McLaren was ontbonden. Red Bull Racing pikte hem op en stelde hem aan als derde coureur. Toen de resultaten van Nyck de Vries bij AlphaTauri ernstig tegenvielen, besloot men hem te ontslaan. Ricciardo werd bij het zusterteam van Red Bull neergezet als de vervanger en in Hongarije en België kwam hij direct aardig voor de dag.

Doelen

Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko houdt de situatie goed in de gaten. Als Ricciardo goed presteert, kan hij namelijk zomaar een permanent stoeltje krijgen voor 2024. In gesprek met Motorsport-Magazin spreekt Marko zich uit over de situatie: "We weten van Daniel Ricciardo wat zijn doelen zijn. Of hij volgend jaar met alle aandacht kan rijden voor AlphaTauri, hangt volledig af van op welke manieren hij zijn doelen probeert te bereiken."

Tsunoda

Marko denkt al hard na over de line-up voor AlphaTauri in 2024. De Oostenrijkse adviseur kijkt ook naar de positie van Ricciardo's huidige teamgenoot: "Yuki Tsunoda heeft zich goed verbeterd en hij heeft zijn emoties ook aardig onder controle. Hij is op conditioneel gebied nu in staat om een volledige Grand Prix te rijden. We hebben ook alternatieven zoals Liam Lawson. Hij staat nu tweede in Japan en hij is heel erg succesvol daar. Hij heeft een grote stap in zijn ontwikkeling gezet in Japan."

Wil hij dit voor elkaar krijgen dan moet hij sowieso ook dit jaar 'met alle aandacht' voor AlphaTauri rijden....

  Italie, Singapore en Austin zijn wel baantjes waar hij redelijk goed gaat.
  
  Zandvoort, Japan, Mexico, Brazilie en Abudhabi dan weer minder volgens mij.
  
  Klein probleem met italie en Austin... snelheid en lage drag is daar wel handig.

  Ik kan me dit interview herinneren. Denk zo dat de nuance ergens anders over ging. Marko wist niet of hij bij SAT zou blijven volgend jaar omdat zijn doel RBR is. En Marko vertelde juist dat Perez dat stoeltje zou houden. Dus Marko vertelde eigenlijk dat voor volgend jaar wat SAT betreft de stoeltjes nog niet zijn verdeeld, maar dat de keuze van Ricciardo daar ook een rol in kan spelen.
  
  Als er daarna een nieuw interview is geweest waar Marko zich heeft bedacht dan hoor ik het graag.

  Klopt toch wat er staat?!
  
  Het is de bedoeling dat Ricciardo SAT de rest van dit seizoen uit het slop trekt en als hij dat goed doet heeft hij daar voor volgend seizoen een stoeltje.
