Red Bull rekent zich niet rijk: "Niets is vanzelfsprekend"

Het team van Red Bull Racing is momenteel extreem dominant in de Formule 1. De Oostenrijkse renstal won in de eerste seizoenshelft alle Grands Prix en heeft met Max Verstappen de absolute superster van het moment in huis. Toch gaat men niet naast hun schoenen lopen, Pierre Wache ziet nog genoeg verbeterpunten.

Red Bull is dit seizoen vrijwel elk weekend veel sneller dan de concurrerende teams. De Oostenrijkse renstal lijkt zich thuis te voelen op alle soorten circuits en ziet dat Verstappen vaak een enorm gat slaat met de andere auto's. Red Bull heeft nog steeds alle kans om een unieke reeks neer te zetten, ze kunnen nog steeds alle Grands Prix in één seizoen winnen. Bij Red Bull juicht niemand te vroeg en blijft men hard doorwerken.

Bij Red Bull beaamt men dan ook dat er heus wel zwakke punten zijn aan de RB19. Technisch directeur Pierre Wache stelt in gesprek met Autosport dat moeilijk is om een compromis te vinden: "Ik denk dat het team goed is omdat we nog steeds realistisch zijn. Niets is hier vanzelfsprekend. Ik denk dat in het geval van hoge downforce, en dan vooral op circuits met hoge downforce zoals Hongarije en Monaco, onze zwakke punten naar voren komen. Dat geldt ook in de kwalificatie en bij lage snelheden."
