Vasseur belooft Sainz zekerheid over contractsituatie

Het team van Ferrari is momenteel volop bezig met de voorbereiding op de aankomende jaren. Er wordt niet alleen hard gewerkt aan de nieuwe auto's, men is ook bezig met de line-up. Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc beschikken allebei over een contract dat afloopt in 2024 en teambaas Frédéric Vasseur wil hen aan het einde van dit jaar duidelijkheid geven.

Vooral Sainz wil snel duidelijkheid hebben over zijn toekomst. De Spanjaard pusht al geruime tijd voor gesprekken terwijl er op de achtergrond geruchten rondgingen over een mogelijke komst van Lewis Hamilton. De geruchten over de Brit lijken een broodje aap-verhaal te zijn, maar het zorgde toch voor enige twijfel over de toekomstige line-up van Ferrari. Het zorgt er in ieder geval voor dat Vasseur snel met duidelijkheid wil komen.

De Franse teambaas van Ferrari geeft in ieder geval aan dat er snel contractonderhandelingen zullen volgen. Vasseur doet hier in gesprek met Auto, Motor und Sport niet geheimzinnig over: "Dat is de reden waarom we voor het einde van het seizoen met Carlos gaan praten. We hebben nog achttien maanden voordat de contracten aflopen, maar we willen duidelijkheid scheppen over onze line-up voor de start van het nieuwe seizoen. Dat betekent dat we alles willen bespreken voor het einde van het jaar, maar we hebben nog vier of vijf maanden om een beslissing te maken."

Vettel niet (was ook A maar met minder steun van het team in t laatste jaar). Kimi niet, werd vervangen, massa niet, schumacher was A... Barichello niet... vervangen...

Niet doen, Carlosita. Althans zo zou je heten als je dat doet. Als je weg gaat word je gewoon weer Carlos. Je wordt dan de prosti-dinges-tue van leclerc! Zoveel is wel duidelijk gezien wat Elkann vorig jaar heeft geroepen.
