Hadjar gaat vrije training rijden voor AlphaTauri

Dit seizoen zijn alle Formule 1-teams nog steeds verplicht om minimaal twee keer een rookie in te zetten tijdens een vrije training. Nog maar weinig teams hebben dat tot nu toe gedaan, maar langzamerhand worden de namen wel bekend gemaakt. AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost onthulde in Zandvoort dat Formule 2-coureur Isack Hadjar later dit jaar een vrije training gaat rijden.

Na afloop van de eerste vrije training in Zandvoort maakte AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost in gesprek met de internationale media bekend dat Red Bull Junior-coureur Isack Hadjar de eerste vrije training in Abu Dhabi voor zijn rekening mag gaan nemen. Hadjar is al een aantal jaar onderdeel van het Red Bull Junior Team en hij heeft daarnaast een zeer goede band met Red Bull-adviseur Helmut Marko.

AlphaTauri heeft met de aangekondigde training voor Hadjar het rookie-schema rond. De eerste vrije training van Nyck de Vries in Bahrein telt namelijk ook mee. De Vries viel daar nog onder de richtlijnen voor rookies, hetzelfde gold voor Logan Sargeant en Oscar Piastri. Dit weekend maakte Ferrari als eerste team echt gebruik van een rookie, Robert Shwartzman verving Carlos Sainz in de eerste vrije training. Later dit jaar mag hij nogmaals in actie komen, net als Theo Pourchaire (Alfa Romeo) en Frederik Vesti (Mercedes).
