Barrichello onaangedaan door geruchten rond zijn plek bij Williams

Het team van Williams is er nog niet uit wie volgend jaar de teamgenoot van Pastor Maldonado moet zijn. Op de shortlist staan volgens de verhalen Kimi Raikkonen, Adrian Sutil, Bruno Senna en Giedo van der Garde. Huidige Williams-coureur Rubens Barrichello is oud, wijs en ervaren genoeg om niet meer in de war raken van geruchten.

Dat doet hij dan ook niet. Barrichello: Dit is de tijd van de speculatie en het heeft geen zin om daar op in te gaan. Mijn Twitter-account stroomt over met vragen. Wat mensen over mij zeggen is vaak niet waar, dus ik kan niet vertrouwen op informatie over andere rijders. Mijn familie leest ook de raarste dingen in de pers en vraagt me er naar. Als ik daar nu wat over zeg, dan gooi ik alleen maar olie op het vuur. Ik wil volgend jaar gewoon racen, punt. Ik ben beter voorbereid dan ooit.

Williams heeft me helaas nog geen goede auto gegeven en we zouden bij elkaar moeten blijven om dat volgend jaar te verbeteren. Er verandert veel en hoe minder veranderingen je dan aan de line-up doorvoert, hoe meer kansen je krijgt. Een goed voorbeeld is Ferrari. Zij doen het beter omdat ze vaak lang door gaan met hun coureurs. Dit is mijn negentiende seizoen in de Formule 1 en ik wil daar minstens nog een jaar aan toevoegen. En als alles goed gaat, dan lukt mij dat ook.
