Wedstrijdleiding grijpt in om chaotische kwalificatie te voorkomen

Het circuit van Monza is één van de populairste circuits op de kalender, maar er is wel één groot nadeel voor de coureurs. Vrijwel elk jaar hebben ze last van verkeer en dat zorgt voor gevaarlijke momenten tijdens de kwalificatie. Wedstrijdleider Niels Wittich heeft dan ook hard ingegrepen.

Wittich heeft op zaterdagochtend een vernieuwde versie van de event notes naar de teams gestuurd. Uit dit document blijkt dat hij een nieuwe paragraaf heeft toegevoegd. Uit het nieuwe punt 4.2 blijkt dat de coureurs zich aan een minimale rondetijd van 1:41:00 moeten houden tijdens alle rondjes in de kwalificatie. Deze regel is ingevoerd om het evenement ordelijk en veilig te laten verlopen.

Dit betekent dus dat inlaps, outlaps en rondjes na afloop van de kwalificatie allemaal binnen deze tijdslimiet moeten vallen. Het is geen nieuwe ingreep van Wittich, maar wat wel opvallend is, is dat het is toegevoegd aan de event notes. Normaal gesproken wordt er meestal een apart document naar de teams gestuurd. Als een coureur deze regel overtreedt, kunnen de stewards een straf gaan uitdelen.

Ik vind het nog veel minder kloppen dat de seconde nadat Sainz pole pakt duidelijk wordt dat er helemaal geen straf komt. Bizar.

    De Ferrari coureurs hebben dus te langzaam gereden in Q1 en dat wordt pas NA Q3 bekeken.
    Ik vind dat niet kloppen, want als dat zo is krijgen ze hooguit 3 plaatsen gridstraf,
    terwijl ze eigenlijk niet door mochten naar Q2.

      Ik begrijp dat ze hen niet meteen bestraft hebben, want dan zouden ze voor het oog van al die Tifosi niet door mogen naar Q2 en dus spanning weg, maar ik vind het niet kloppen!
