Waarom is de lay-out in Singapore aangepast?

Aankomend weekend staat de Grand Prix van Singapore weer op het programma. De race op het stratencircuit in de Aziatische stadsstaat is altijd zeer spectaculair en zwaar voor de coureurs. Alhoewel het circuit weinig geheim kent voor de coureurs, zullen ze dit jaar toch eventjes moeten wennen. De lay-out is namelijk aangepast.

Het Marina Bay Street Circuit ziet er dit seizoen anders uit dan voorheen. Dit komt niet door tips of klachten van de coureurs, maar door werkzaamheden in de stad. Hierdoor is het gedeelte tussen bocht zestien en bocht negentien dit jaar één groot recht stuk. Een gevolg hiervan is dat het circuit nu nog maar negentien bochten heeft in plaats van drieëntwintig. Ook zal de rondetijd lager liggen dan voorheen, worden er meer raceronden verreden, is het circuit korter en is de bekende Bay Grandstand verdwenen.

Ik denk dat men dit eigenlijk doet om Massa te pesten. Gewoon de gehele bochtencyclus waar het gezeik in 2008 mee begon rondom de crash van Piquet JR in de doofpot stoppen 😉
