FIA grijpt in om gevaarlijke situaties in kwalificatie te voorkomen

De kwalificatie van vandaag belooft een groot spektakelstuk te worden. De onderlinge verschillen tussen de topteams zijn klein en dat betekent dat het een secondespel kan gaan worden. Om problemen met verkeer te voorkomen heeft wedstrijdleider Niels Wittich ingegrepen.

Tijdens de vrije trainingen werd maar weer eens duidelijk dat verkeer een groot probleem is in Singapore. Meerdere delen van het circuit zijn nogal krap en dat zorgde voor problemen toen snelle auto's werden gehinderd door andere auto's die bezig waren met outlaps. Wittich heeft daarom een maximale rondetijd ingevoerd. Coureurs moeten een maximale rondetijd van 1:52:00 rijden, anders kunnen ze zomaar tegen een straf aanlopen. Hetzelfde gebeurde ook in Monza.

      onzin, deze regel moet juist hand in hand werken met de regel dat je andere coureurs niet mag hinderen. In Monza werd dat prima toegepast. De uitzondering ligt ook vast in de regel.

      Ach, er is kennelijk een precedent en je mag 6 seconden per auto die je laat passeren verliezen, dat is wat Leclerc ook mocht ten slotte.

      het ging in totaal om ongeveer een seconde overschrijding. Dit is gewoon een aanvullende regel om wat orde aan te brengen. Niet een regel die ineens boven al het andere gaat. Is dat nu echt zo moeilijk om te snappen?

      Waar heb je het over hup? Leclerc deed 17 seconden langer over z'n Monza rondje dan de maximale tijd die de FIA had voorgeschreven.

      @RBH: nee hoor, ging om een overschrijding van ongeveer een seconde. Helaas werd er door een groot TV-station verkeerde informatie verspreid wat door anderen werd overgenomen.
