Hamilton hekelt teams vanwege DRS-besluit

Het circuit van Marina Bay in Singapore ziet er dit weekend iets anders uit dan normaal. Door werkzaamheden in de stadstaat kan de normale lay-out niet worden gebruikt. De coureurs zijn enthousiast over de aangepaste baan, maar Lewis Hamilton is niet blij dat een paar teams de extra DRS-zone hebben tegengehouden.

De coureurs drongen er bij de FIA op aan om op het nieuwe gedeelte van de baan een DRS-zone in te voeren. Dit zou dan de vierde DRS-zone moeten worden. De FIA vroeg de tien teams om feedback, maar daar kwamen wisselende antwoorden op terug. Daarom besloot men geen DRS-zone in te voeren, tot onvrede van de coureurs. Ze hebben hun mening nogmaals laten horen tijdens de rijdersbriefing.

Inhaalacties

Ook Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton is niet blij met de beslissing van de FIA. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen laat aan RaceFans weten dat hij weinig nieuwe inhaalmogelijkheden ziet: "Ik denk momenteel niet dat we meer inhaalacties gaan zien. Misschien is het iets makkelijker om een actie te maken in bocht zeven omdat je nu wat beter door de eerste bochten ka komen. Maar, we hebben die DRS-zone in de laatste sector gewoon nodig."

Teams

Hamilton is dan ook niet blij met de beslissing van de FIA en het gedrag van de teams. Uit de antwoorden bleek immers niet dat deze DRS-zone broodnodig was. Hamilton is daar nogal duidelijk over: "Alle coureurs hadden hier om gevraagd bij de FIA. De FIA heeft het dan weer aan de teams gevraagd en een aantal van hen hadden er geen zin in. We willen het in de rijdersbriefing weer aan het licht brengen. De teams moeten gewoon voor meer racen zijn. Het is interessant dat een paar teams hier tegen zijn."

je zegt het zelf al, het helpt bepaalde teams meer dan andere, dus kun je ook verwachten dat er teams tegen gaan stemmen. Voor Ferrari was de kans op een pole tov Red Bull daardoor iets groter en t is makkelijker om ze in de race af te houden. Ik had het eerlijk gezegd juist raar gevonden als tea... [Lees verder]

Volgens mij is er redelijk duidelijk vanuit de fia gereageerd dat er net voldoende uitloop ruimte aan het einde van het rechtestuk is. Om een drs zone tot te voegen komt er een extra risico om de hoek kijken. Nu moet je dat natuurlijk ook met een kleine korrel zout nemen. Die paar extra kilometers per uur maakt niet zoveel uit. Maar de kans op een drs faal is natuurlijk altijd aanwezig. En dan ga je hard de muur in.

  Die uitloop heeft niets te maken met of er wel of geen gebruik gemaakt wordt van DRS.

Hoewel ik geen voorstander ben van DRS - Trulli treintjes zijn veel erger. Op een stratencircuit mag het voor mij overal gebruikt worden zelfs zonder activeerlijntje. Het had RB nu hier nog meer dan elders geholpen. Eigenaardig dat 4 teams ertegen waren en alle rijders ervoor.

Ik had het eerlijk gezegd juist raar gevonden als teams het hier wel over eens waren geworden. FIA had hier gewoon zelf het heft in handen moeten nemen. Zij bepalen toch waar de DRS zones komen?

  Mercedes gaat altijd goed in de race maar slecht in de kwalificatie, het is dus niet vreemd dat Hamilton er voor is
