'Sauber wilde Hülkenberg overnemen van Haas'

Eerder deze week maakte het team van Alfa Romeo\Sauber bekend dat Valtteri Bottas en Guanyu Zhou ook in 2024 voor het team rijden. Het plekje van Zhou leek onder druk te staan, maar hij heeft dus toch een nieuw contract gekregen. Het lijkt er op dat de directie van Sauber dacht aan Nico Hülkenberg.

Hülkenberg rijdt momenteel voor het team van Haas. De Duitser verlengde een aantal weken geleden zijn contract bij de Amerikaanse renstal, maar het lijkt er stevig op dat hij meerdere mogelijkheden had. Het doorgaans goed ingevoerd Blick meldt namelijk dat Sauber pogingen heeft gewaagd om Hülkenberg binnen te hengelen. De Duitser heeft immers een verleden bij de renstal.

Voor het Zwitserse medium Blick heeft het huidige Alfa Romeo zelfs eventjes overwogen om beide coureurs aan de kant te schuiven. Maar volgens het medium zou het te duur zijn om Bottas de laan uit te sturen en wilden ze daarnaast ook Zhou een nieuwe kans gunnen. Het werd ook moeilijk om Hülkenberg los te weken bij Haas. De Duitser beschikte immers over een optie voor 2024. Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner besloot deze optie te activeren waardoor het voor Sauber vrijwel onmogelijk werd om Hülkenberg over te nemen van de concurrent.

    Voor de liefhebber is er weinig om Alfa te volgen. Twee coureurs die eigenlijk alleen maar veldvulling zijn. Toegegeven; het is moeilijk om jezelf te onderscheiden in deze auto maar ik vind het echt vlees noch vis.

    Jammer dat Pourchaire volgend jaar geen kans krijgt. Alhoewel hij in de F2 net iets minder indruk maakt dan ik van tevoren had verwacht schat ik hem (op termijn) wel degelijk hoger in dan het huidige duo.

      Eens over Pourchaire, niet over dat de coureurs veldvulling zijn. Ik denk dat Bottas in het verleden genoeg bewezen heeft, en Zhou is gewoon een degelijke coureur. Maar in deze auto valt er weinig klaar te spelen. Dat ligt natuurlijk niet aan de coureurs.

      Maar ze hadden m.i. wel gewoon ruimte moeten maken voor Pourchaire.

      Dat betekent overigens ook dat Hulkenberg aantrekken een zaak van slecht beleid is. Prima coureur, maar na 10 jaar hebben we het wel gezien. Gewoon doorpakken en jongere coureurs plaatsen, of coureurs die misschien een tweede kans verdienen of ervaring elders hebben opgedaan.

      Ook eens met MWHT.
      Televisie met jou.dan weer niet qua Bottas, het verleden is verleden tijd en hij heeft het niet meer(misschien nooit echt gehad ook?) Hij moet nu juist zijn ervaring en spierballen tonen en dat is wat er mist.
      Zhou is een beetje onzichtbaar maar tegenvallen vind ik hem dan weer niet, gun hem nog wel een jaartje.

      Met een auto die niets kan, kan je weinig. Bottas heeft gewoon een indrukwekkend palmares. Als je zegt dat hij het nooit gehad heeft, heb je gewoon niet goed opgelet.

      Meningen verschillen en ik zei ook "misschien " want hij was ook nooit consistent voor een heel seizoen bij Mercedes. En ja er waren ook goeie dagen bij.
      Slecht in zowel de aanval als verdediging, alweer mijn mening.

      Bij Mercedes reed hij tegen Hamilton. Hij reed bij Williams Massa gewoon naar huis en nam het met regelmaat op tegen de snellere Ferrari's. Bottas was nadat Rosberg vertrok overduidelijk de snelste coureur die beschikbaar was voor Mercedes.
