Zhou start vanuit pitlane vanwege motorwissel

Guanyu Zhou kende gisteren in Singapore een tegenvallende kwalificatie. De Chinese Alfa Romeo-coureur noteerde de negentiende tijd. Door het wegvallen van Lance Stroll zou hij dus op de laatste startplaats starten. Alfa Romeo heeft echter besloten om in te grijpen en Zhou's auto te voorzien van een gloednieuwe krachtbron.

De FIA heeft namelijk een document gedeeld waar uit blijkt dat Alfa Romeo een aantal verandering heeft doorgevoerd die in strijd zijn met de parc fermé-regels. Zhou krijgt in de race de beschikking over een nieuwe ICE, een nieuwe turbocharger, een nieuwe MGU-H en nieuwe control electronics. Tevens heeft het team het uitlaatsysteem vervangen en is de set-up van de wagen aangepast. Zhou zal vrijwel zeker vanuit de pitlane gaan starten.
