Hamilton presenteert bizar helmdesign in Suzuka

Veel coureurs rijden dit weekend in Suzuka met bijzondere helmdesigns. Het land Japan en het desbetreffende circuit zijn populair onder de coureurs. Veel van hen kiezen dan ook voor een opvallend design. Lewis Hamilton heeft een wel heel bizar design aan de buitenwereld getoond.

Hamilton heeft in Japan namelijk een helmontwerp onthuld dat een soort spiegel is. De bovenzijde van de helm is chroom van kleur en het heeft het effect van een spiegel. Tijdens de presentatie van de helm koos Hamilton voor een extra opvallend element. In zijn vizier had hij namelijk een lichtje gemonteerd. Het is niet de verwachting dat hij daadwerkelijk met deze lamp in zijn helm gaat rijden. Tijdens de eerste vrije training reed hij nog gewoon met zijn gebruikelijke design.

    Heel mooi. Echt een special edition, in plaats van wat een paar andere coureurs hebben die een special edition helm hebben die amper opvalt. Dat doen o.a. mensen als Zhou, Alonso en dus Hamilton heel wat beter.

    Overigens ter toevoeging, de ontwerper is Hajime Sorayama. En zoals op de foto's te zien is, verandert de kleur afhankelijk van de lichtinval. Het is dus ook technisch innovatief.

    Ben benieuwd of dat onder reguliere omstandigheden überhaupt toegestaan is.

      Omdat ze eigenlijk iets tegen veranderende designs hadden met het oog op herkenbaarheid. En als je dan een helm hebt dat steeds verandert (of meerdere)...

      Waarschijnlijk ook voor één race niet goedgekeurd. En ja, het blijft beter, want het is echt wat anders. Dat hij een andere helm draagt, ach. Goed voor een extra verhaal omtrent het waarom dit zo is. Overigens is de helm die hij nu draagt ook gewoon heel anders, en dus ook een betere special edition.

    Een nieuwe helm dient toch altijd onthuld te worden? Of is er hier ook een nieuwe technische richtlijn van toepassing voor de sukjesschrijvert?

    Wat een afschuwelijk ding. Ik vond nog steeds die helm van hem een jaar of 4 a 5 geleden de mooiste helm bij enig F1 rijder van de laatste jaren. Dat was een paarse.

    Maar uit nostaligisch ookpunt vind ik de simpele designs gewoon erg mooi. Ik realiseer me dat ik echt oudbakken begin te worden.

      Designs zijn m.i. veels te druk, publiek heeft daar niets aan want ze zien dat toch niet op afstand.
