Karttalent René Lammers maakt kans op plekje in opleidingsploeg Ferrari

Met Max Verstappen rijdt er momenteel een Nederlandse superster in de Formule 1. Verstappen is een inspiratiebron voor veel jonge coureurs, het is dus wachten op het volgende Nederlandse talent dat op de deur klopt. Eén groot Nederlands talent maakt nu kans op een plekje in de talentenploeg van Ferrari.

De jonge René Lammers is namelijk door Ferrari uitgenodigd om te strijden voor een plekje in de opleidingsploeg van de Italiaanse renstal. De zoon van Jan Lammers is Europees kampioen in de OK-klasse in de karts en hij maakte in de afgelopen jaren veel indruk. Het is dan ook niet vreemd dat Ferrari bij hem uit is gekomen. Samen met de Italianen Emanuele Olivieri en Mattia Colnaghi en de Let Tomass Stolcermanis is Lammers geselecteerd voor het testprogramma.

Lammers krijgt te maken met een zwaar programma. Hij zal bij Ferrari worden uitgedaagd op meerdere fysieke manieren, maar hij zal ook plaats moeten nemen in de schoolbanken voor een aantal theoretische lessen. Hij mag ook de baan op, want Ferrari laat de coureurs testen met een Formule 4-wagen. Als Lammers positief opvalt bij Ferrari, moet hij nog een aantal stappen zetten om echt onderdeel te worden van de opleidingsploeg. Hij moet zich daarna bewijzen bij de Scouting World Finals, daarna maakt Ferrari een keuze.

Mooi dat die jongen hiervoor een uitnodiging krijgt.
Doet me een beetje denken aan Verstappen die in 2014 werd uitgenodigd door Ferrari om deel te nemen aan de Florida Winter Series, hoewel daar ook minder goede coureurs aan mee deden, waarschijnlijk omdat ze zich daarvoor hadden ingekocht (Stroll, Latifi en zelfs Dennis van de Laar).

Hoe het voor Lammers ook uitpakt, het zal sowieso een mooie ervaring zijn die hij kan meenemen in zijn ontwikkeling. En hij hoeft zich ook nog niet persé te binden aan een juniorprogramma, want we hebben ook gezien dat het soms deuren gesloten laat die anders wel open hadden gestaan.
