Red Bull Racing dringt aan op betere avondklok-regels

Het team van Red Bull Racing is van mening dat de reglementen met betrekking tot de avondklok voor Formule 1-personeel verbetering behoeven. In Singapore hoorde de Oostenrijkse renstal bij het drietal teams dat in eerste instantie een van de uitzonderingen verloor.

Na klachten en bewijzen dat het om marketing-personeel dat op geen enkele manier betrokken is bij het runnen van de auto's ging draaide de internationale autosportbond FIA die beslissing terug. Om dergelijke misverstanden in de toekomst te voorkomen zijn duidelijkere regels nodig.

Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner tegenover Autosport: Ik was meer verbaasd dan geïrriteerd. Uiteindelijk overwon het gezonde verstand, de stewards begrepen dat de gebruikte pas niet onder controle stond van en geen deel uitmaakte van het team.

Het is wel iets dat we moeten adresseren in de Sportieve Reglementen. De achterliggende gedachte van de regels is duidelijk en die steunen wij ook, maar het is onmogelijk om verantwoordelijk te zijn voor iedereen die een pas heeft. Wat sponsors of marketing-mensen doen kunnen we niet controleren.
