Achterhoedeteams mogen meer geld gaan uitgeven

Na lang onderhandelen zijn de Formule 1-teams en de FIA tot een compromis gekomen over het budget dat ze mogen uitgeven aan de infrastructuur. In de praktijk betekent dit dat de teams in de achterhoede in de komende periode meer mogen uitgeven om hun infrastructuur te verbeteren.

Het was voor de teams al toegestaan om buiten de budgetcap om maximaal 45 miljoen dollar uit te geven aan het verbeteren van de infrastructuur. De kleinere teams op de grid gaven echter aan dat dit voor hen nog genoeg was en dat het speelveld hierdoor ongelijker werd. De FIA luisterde naar de klachten van de teams en daarom hebben ze nu een ingreep aangekondigd om de achterblijvers een extra kans te geven om de infrastructuur te verbeteren.

De FIA heeft aangekondigd dat alle teams vanaf volgend seizoen meer geld mogen uitgeven op dit gebied. Red Bull Racing, Ferrari en Mercedes mogen 6 miljoen extra gaan uitgeven, Aston Martin, McLaren en Alpine krijgen er 13 miljoen bij en Williams, AlphaTauri, Haas en Alfa Romeo krijgen er twintig miljoen bij. Dit betekent overigens niet dat de teams geld van de FIA krijgen, het gaat om eigen geld dat ze extra mogen uitgeven. Na 2024 worden de bedragen geleidelijk aangepast zodat alles in 2029 weer gelijk is.
