Hamilton oppert oplossing voor bandenproblemen in Qatar

De coureurs mogen vandaag in Qatar slechts achttien rondjes rijden op hun banden. De FIA heeft deze beslissing genomen nadat bandenleverancier Pirelli problemen ontdekte met de compounds. De coureurs zijn niet blij met deze problemen en Lewis Hamilton wijst naar de weinige testdagen.

Gisteren kwam de FIA voor het eerst naar buiten met het nieuws over de problemen met de banden. Bandenleverancier Pirelli ontdekte minuscule scheurtjes in de banden en dat zorgde voor zorgen. Dit kan er namelijk voor zorgen dat er klapbanden gaan volgen. Om dat soort problemen te voorkomen, heeft de FIA nu besloten om een maximum stintduur van achttien rondjes in te stellen.

Voordat dit nieuws naar buiten werd gebracht reageerden de coureurs al kritisch op het gesteggel met de banden. Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton was duidelijk in gesprek met de internationale media: "We hebben uiteindelijk een betere band nodig. Ik denk niet dat het probleem volledig bij de bandenleverancier ligt. We hebben amper testtijd. We testen ook niet op een circuit met zulke snelle bochten als we hier hebben. Ik heb tijdens de meeting gesuggereerd dat we de testdagen moeten verplaatsen naar dit circuit. Hier hebben de banden het namelijk het zwaarst van het hele seizoen."

    Dat is geen oplossing, maar klagen dat je te weinig in season mag testen. Het verplaatsen is natuurlijk bull. Dan komen ze tekort met het testen op andere banen. Wat ze graag wel weer willen in verband met de al opgebouwde kennis. Barcelona testen ze al jaren. En al die opgebouwde kennis werkt. Dan weten teams wat klopt in de simulator en wat niet.

    Ookal hebben we 10 keer zoveel tests als num die banden worden in een test niet zo zwaar belast als in een kwalificatie of race. Dus nee, meer testen is niet de oplossing.

    Gewoon al die kerbstones weg, vervangen door platte. En direct daarna twee meter van dat grond met epoxy (als zandvoort) en dan gewoon grond/zand. Geen baan limieten. Het is voor iedereen hetzelfde., alleen als je buiten de baan komt moet het echt een straf zijn en veel snelheid kwijt zijn...

      Ik snap sowieso niet dat de FIA van alle circuits eist dat die allemaal dezelfde probleemloze kerbstones moeten laten plaatsen, dan ben je in één klap van al dit gezeik af.

      Toch kwam Lewis met de ideale oplossing, namelijk zijn race beperken tot 1/4 ronde.

      @Snelrondje, dat was toch niet de oplossing. Zag je hoe hij in dat 1/4 zijn band toch al aan gort wist te rijden ? ;)
