'Spa dichtbij plekje op F1-kalender voor 2025'

Het begint er steeds meer op te lijken dat de Belgische Grand Prix voorlopig nog op de Formule 1-kalender staat. De race op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps stond in de afgelopen jaren onder druk, maar inmiddels is dat niet meer het geval. Het lijkt er op dat ze ook in 2025 op de kalender staan.

In de afgelopen jaren was de toekomst van de Belgische Grand Prix zeer twijfelachtig. De Formule 1 wilde graag Zuid-Afrika een plekje geven op de kalender en dit zou dan ten koste gaan van de race in België. Het zorgde voor veel weerstand, want het circuit van Spa is immers zeer populair onder fans en coureurs. Aangezien de Zuid-Afrikaanse Grand Prix niet doorging, verscheen België ook dit jaar weer op de kalender.

In 2024 heeft Spa al een plekje op de kalender en het lijkt er op dat ze ook in het jaar daarna onderdeel zijn van de koningsklasse van de autosport. Het Belgische medium Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN) meldt namelijk dat de deal voor 2025 zo goed als rond is. De organisatie van de Grand Prix is bijna rond met de Formule 1 en als de laatste details rond zijn, is een nieuwe deal een feit. Volgens HLN aasde Spa eigenlijk op een langere deal, maar dat is dus niet gelukt.

      Ook in 2025 zal op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps de Grote Prijs van België in de Formule 1 worden verreden.
      Dat heeft de Waalse minister van Economie Willy Borsus gezegd tijdens de plenaire vergadering van het Waalse Parlement en wordt bevestigd door ingewijden.
      Een officieel statement van de Formule 1-leiding wordt snel verwacht.

      "Dit is goed en belangrijk nieuws”, zei Borsus, die met name het economische belang van de wedstrijd onderstreepte.
      De ook door veel Nederlandse Max Verstappen-fans bezochte grand prix trekt jaarlijks over drie dagen 380.000 bezoekers.
      Het aantal tv-kijkers wereldwijd wordt geschat op een half miljard, de totale economische recette op 42 miljoen euro.
      "Zo levert elke geïnvesteerde euro 7 euro op”, rekende Borsus voor.

      Bekend was al dat de Formule 1 volgend jaar terugkeert op het circuit van Spa-Francorchamps.
      Dat zal waarschijnlijk gebeuren in het laatste weekeinde van juli.

    Blijft van de zotte dat Qatar 10 jaar een contract krijgt terwijl dit legendarische circuit het niet eens weet of ze door mogen.
    Zo hè, dat is een lange zin.

      Als ze in de Ardennen zo'n 500miljoen vaten p/d olie uit de grond weten te halen, dan staat Spa ook 10jaar op de kalender;)

      Dat is niet in het belang van de aandeelhouders waar de F1 tegenwoordig helaas mee te maken heeft.

    Goed nieuws en ik begrijp goed dat de FIA met Spa werkt met wat kortere contracten. Vroeger waren het ook maar contracten voor 3 jaar steeds. Je moet die Walen niet te lui maken door ze een dik contract onder de neus te schuiven. Die nieuwe tribunes hadden er al 20 jaar geleden moeten staan minimaal, dus ze scherp houden is gewoon onderdeel van de onderhandelingstactiek. Spa gaat echt nooit van de kalender verdwijnen. Als dat wel zo is, is het hun eigen schuld. Spa begint nu weer een beetje met de rest mee te komen qua faciliteiten al is het pitgebouw natuurlijk ook spuuglelijk met die golfplaten. De baan is hemels, maar de locatie en faciliteiten kunnen en moeten echt goed in de gaten gehouden worden. Heb liever Spa op de kalender dan Zandvoort als ik zou moeten kiezen, maar ze kunnen makkelijk naast elkaar bestaan zolang Max in de F1 zit.
