Hirakawa werkt McLaren-test af in Barcelona

Het team van McLaren is bezig met een speciale test op het circuit van Barcelona in Spanje. De Britse renstal werkt vaker tests af tijdens het seizoen als onderdeel van het Driver Development-programma van de renstal. Vandaag komt er een opvallende naam in actie.

In een oudere McLaren-bolide komt Ryo Hirakawa vandaag in actie in Barcelona. Voor de Japanse Le Mans-winnaar zijn het zijn eerste meters in een Formule 1-wagen. De aan Toyota verbonden Hirakawa is vanaf volgend jaar één van de officiële reservecoureurs van McLaren. Tijdens het raceweekend in zijn thuisland werd hij gepresenteerd en toen werd ook duidelijk dat hij onderdeel zou worden van het ontwikkelingsprogramma.
