Advocaten Massa stemmen in met nieuwe deadline voor FIA en FOM

Felipe Massa maakt serieus werk van zijn rechtszaak tegen de FIA en de Formule 1. De Braziliaan is nog steeds van mening dat hij de rechtmatige wereldkampioen van 2008 is. Massa's advocaten wachten al geruime tijd op een antwoord van de FIA en de FOM, maar ze hebben wel ingestemd met een verlenging van de deadline.

Massa begon eerder dit jaar met zijn juridische stappen nadat Bernie Ecclestone zich had uitgesproken over het Crashgate-schandaal. De Brit beweerde namelijk dat hij en toenmalig FIA-president Max Mosley al in 2008 wisten van deze rel, terwijl de rest van de wereld pas in 2009 hoorde van deze zaak. Massa reageerde woest, want hij stelt dat hij zonder Crashgate wereldkampioen was geworden in 2008.

Deadline

Massa zette tijdens de zomer zijn eerste juridische stappen en zijn advocaten stuurden een zogenaamde Letter Before Claim naar de FIA en de FOM. Ze hebben nog geen antwoord ontvangen en advocaat Bernardo Viana legt dit uit bij The Athletic: "De FIA en de FOM zijn hun interne onderzoek aan het afronden en ze hebben om een nieuwe deadline gevraagd. Ze willen de tijd hebben tot 15 november in plaats van 12 oktober."

Conclusie

Massa's advocaat denkt dat de FIA en de FOM op de goede weg zijn en dat een nieuwe deadline beter is voor het proces. Viana heeft goede hoop: "We hebben hier mee ingestemd omdat als ze op een eerlijke wijze naar deze zaak kijken, dan komen ze tot dezelfde conclusie als waar wij en vele anderen tot zijn gekomen. We zouden graag willen weten wat het standpunt is van de nieuwe Formule 1-leiders over het onlangs onthulde schandaal en het onrecht dat Felipe Massa is aangedaan."

  @Patrick_St; ach, die kaarten zijn in 2022 al 20% duurder geworden en afgelopen jaar nog 20% dus ik had voor mezelf als de conclusie getrokken dat een weekendje F1 op de tribune met m'n zoon mij toch geen 3K waard is met reis en verblijf. Kijk wel samen in de mancave. Ook nog beter bier voor 10% van wat het daar kost en binnen handbereik. 🤣

  @Patrick Waarom denk je dat hij kans maakt op wat miljoenen? Daar moet wel een argument voor zijn. Buiten dat het twijfelachtig is of hij eigenlijk WK had moeten zijn op basis van zijn argumenten, is het argument dat ze aanvoeren dat er allerlei marketing-gerelateerde kansen waren gekomen. De vraag is of Massa deze inderdaad gekregen had. Hij is nog jaren actief geweest, en weinig mensen keken naar hem om. Deze kansen krijg je niet omdat je een keer een kampioenschap wint. Daar heb je wat meer voor nodig. Charisma, het vermogen iets te promoten.

  Ik denk dat FOM geen gezichtsverlies wilt en daarom wel schikt voor een paar miljoen.

  Dat doe ik niet. Ik ben alleen realistisch. Massa is niet degene die allerlei lifestyle-merken aan zich verbonden zou krijgen. Hij heeft geen karakter en heeft zijn uiterlijk ook niet mee. Hem iets laten promoten op basis van één WK zou van korte duur zijn. Als je kijkt dat hij nog jaren aan Ferrari verbonden was en ook daarna toch F1 gereden heeft, kun je niet zeggen dat hij zoveel misgelopen is.
  
  Kijk naar wereldkampioenen die na 1 WK zo enorm stegen in hun commerciële kansen. Mensen als Max en zeker Hamilton hadden dat PR-momentum zonder een WK al. Leclerc en Sainz hebben dikke commerciële contracten terwijl ze niet eens in de buurt kwamen van een F1-kkampioenschap. Alonso heeft na 2 WK's slechts vrij beperkte commerciële partners.

Voorlopig zie ik alleen de voorspelling uitkomen dat Massa speelbal van zijn advocaten is.
Met hier en daar een berichtje en een 'succesje' wekt men de indruk hard voor 'm bezig te zijn, terwijl het op voorhand een kansloze zaak lijkt en al maanden geen nieuwe informatie boven tafel gekomen is.

Ik zou niet te lang wachten. want Bernie kan misschien ook ieder moment omvallen en zal een belangrijke schakel zijn in het proces. En als Massa echt voor de titel wil gaan, dan moet hij dadelijk ook niet schikken voor een paar miljoen. Ik sta tot dusver wel achter het besluit van Massa zolang de drijfveer de titel is.

Crashgate hadden lewis en massa net zoveel last van. Pas als crashgate was om lewis extra punten te geven. Dan pas zal die race niet mee tellen. Heeft hij dan genoeg punten geen idee.
