Marta García eerste kampioen in F1 Academy

Het eerste kampioen van de F1 Academy is bekend. In de eerste race van het weekend op het Circuit of the Americas, werd de kampioensstrijd beslist. Marta García kwam als winnares over de streep en dat was genoeg om de titel te pakken in het gloednieuwe kampioenschap.

De Formule 1 zette dit jaar het F1 Academy-kampioenschap op. De klasse voor vrouwelijk talent kwam dit weekend voor het eerst in actie in het voorprogramma van de koningsklasse van de autosport. In de eerste race wist García direct de titelrace in haar voordeel te beslissen. De Spaanse coureur van het team van Prema kwam als winnares over de streep en dat was genoeg voor de titel. Ze werd daarna gefeliciteerd door Mercedes-coureurs George Russell en Lewis Hamilton.
