Krack spreekt van weggegooide dag voor Aston Martin in Mexico

Het team van Aston Martin wilde er op de vrijdag in Mexico eigenlijk achter komen of de updates uit Austin zich naar wens zouden gedragen. In de tweede vrije training werd de Britse renstal getrakteerd op een flinke portie pech en teambaas Mike Krack beschouwt het dan ook als een weggegooide sessie.

Aston Martin introduceerde vorige week in Austin een groot updatepakket, maar dat ging niet helemaal naar wens. In de Verenigde Staten werd er immers een sprintweekend afgewerkt en dat ging niet helemaal samen met het introduceren van nieuwe onderdelen. Ze moesten dan ook ingrijpen waardoor beide coureurs vanuit de pitlane startten. In Mexico wilden ze meer leren over de updates, maar dat is slechts met mondjesmaat gelukt.

Fernando Alonso en Lance Stroll kenden allebei een enorm tegenvallende tweede vrije training. Aston Martin-teambaas Mike Krack laat aan Sky Sports weten dat hij allesbehalve tevreden is met het resultaat: "We zijn achttiende en twintigste geworden in deze sessie. We hadden een normale start, maar we kregen het niet voor elkaar om een rondje te rijden op de zachte banden. Fernando spinde in bocht acht en we hadden een probleempje bij het verwijderen van de voorband bij de auto van Lance. Daarna ging het regenen en reden we op de baan op nieuwe softs."
