MotoGP-legende Rossi komt in actie bij WEC-rookietest

Aankomend weekend staat in Bahrein de seizoensfinale van het World Endurance Championship op het programma. Eén dag na deze race wordt de traditionele rookietest op het programma. Er staan meerdere opvallende namen op de deelnemerslijst, maar het team van WRT heeft wel een heel bijzondere coureur ingeschreven.

De Belgische renstal heeft namelijk bekend gemaakt dat MotoGP-legende Valentino Rossi op zondag plaats zal nemen in de LMP2-wagen van het team. Hij zal de auto gaan delen met Charles Weerts. De test van Rossi komt niet uit de lucht vallen, want de Italiaan rijdt al voor het team in meerdere GT-kampioenschappen. WRT zal daarnaast het Hypercar-programma van BMW gaan verzorgen in 2024 en Rossi werd eerder al in verband gebracht met een zitje bij deze formatie.
