Wat viel op tijdens de zaterdag in Brazilië?

Gisteren werden op het circuit van Interlagos twee belangrijke sessies afgewerkt. De coureurs kwamen in actie tijdens de Sprint Shootout en de veelbesproken sprintrace. Er gebeurde zeer veel in Sao Paulo en GPToday.net zet een aantal van deze opvallende momenten op een rij.

Regels

Lando Norris startte de sprintrace vanaf de eerste positie. In de Sprint Shootout reed hij een geweldige ronde en hij was net iets sneller dan Max Verstappen. Maar, pas vlak voor de sprintrace werd duidelijk dat Norris echt vanaf de eerste plaats zou starten. Hij moest zich namelijk bij de stewards melden omdat hij tijdens de Shootout zich niet aan de vastgestelde rondetijd had gehouden. Hij kreeg alleen een reprimande, maar men vroeg zich af wat er precies aan de hand was. Fans, coureurs en teams beginnen zich steeds meer te ergeren aan deze regel. Het is dan ook de vraag wat de FIA hier aan gaat doen.

AlphaTauri

In de kwalificatie op vrijdag zakte het team van AlphaTauri nog door het ijs, maar in de sprintrace schitterden Yuki Tsunoda en Daniel Ricciardo. Ze gingen vol de strijd aan met de veel hoger aangeschreven teams en ze wisten wonderwel stand te houden. Tsunoda haalden Lewis Hamilton in en hij kwam ook nog als zesde over de streep. Ricciardo werd negende en hij vocht ook een aantal stevige duels uit met veel snellere auto's.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen is dit seizoen dominant op vrijwel alle circuits. Ook in Sao Paulo liet hij weer eens zien dat men met hem geen grapjes uit hoeft te halen. Zijn start in de sprintrace leek niet goed te zijn, maar toch reed hij al aan de leiding in de eerste bocht. Verstappen wist dat Norris steeds dichterbij kwam, maar eigenlijk zag hij de Brit vooral rijden op de grote schermen naast de baan. De zege was simpel en zijn concurrenten vrezen voor een soortgelijk resultaat in de race van vandaag.
