Tsunoda put vertrouwen uit succesvolle sprintrace

Yuki Tsunoda kan met opgeheven hoofd terug kijken op de sprintrace. De AlphaTauri-coureur pakte een knappe zesde plaats en versloeg zelfs zevenvoudig wereldkampioen Lewis Hamilton. Na de blamage in Mexico was dit een ideale opsteker voor de jonge Japanner.

"Allereerst een dikke proficiat aan het team!", begon Tsunoda in een persmemo van het team. "Vrijdag was niet onze dag, maar samen hebben we vandaag een grote comeback gemaakt."

"Van de kwalificatie voor de Grand Prix naar de P6 voor de sprintrace is een grote stap in de goede richting. De auto was leuk om te rijden, maar we moeten begrijpen waarom er zo’n verschil was tussen vrijdag en zaterdag."

"Er waren een paar plaatsen waar ik mijn tijd kon verbeteren en ik denk dat de laatste ronde in SQ3 mijn beste ronde tot nu toe was, waardoor ik in een goede positie kon starten voor de sprintrace."

"We hebben onze kansen gemaximaliseerd en zijn op P6 geëindigd, wat de hoogste positie tot nu toe dit seizoen is. Met nog een paar ronden had ik misschien voor P5 kunnen vechten met Leclerc voor ons."

"Ik ben blij met mijn racevaardigheden en de snelheid van de auto was, vooral tijdens de race, sterk. Daniel had ook een goed tempo, dus het was een grote teamprestatie. Goed gedaan voor het team, want zonder hun harde werk zou ik niet in die positie hebben gezeten."

"Nu kijk ik ernaar uit om weer te racen. We zitten nu in een goed ritme, dus we zullen daarop voortbouwen en morgen nog meer prestaties leveren. Het zal niet gemakkelijk zijn omdat we verder naar achteren starten, maar we weten dat onze auto goed is, dus we zullen zoveel mogelijk inhalen, waarbij punten mogelijk zijn", sloot Tsunoda strijdvaardig af.

Tsunoda lijkt hier gewoon sneller te zijn dan Ricciardo. En ik denk dat hij vorige week zonder zijn fout ook kans had Ricciardo bij te halen. Iedereen heeft het erover dat Ricciardo de overstap naar Red Bull zou moeten maken, maar ik moet nog zien of hij beter is dan Tsunoda.

Ik denk dat de top 10 coureurs op de grid ook de top 10 zullen vormen bij de finishlijn. Niet in dezelfde volgorde maar ik zie AT niet AM inhalen en ferrari, mclaren, benz RB zijn vrijwel gegarandeerd voor punten.

Tsunoda lijkt hier gewoon sneller te zijn dan Ricciardo. En ik denk dat hij vorige week zonder zijn fout ook kans had Ricciardo bij te halen. Iedereen heeft het erover dat Ricciardo de overstap naar Red Bull zou moeten maken, maar ik moet nog zien of hij beter is dan Tsunoda.

  Ik moet ook zien dat Ricciardo echt een verbetering is dan opzichte van Checo.
  
  Voor Mexico hadden vele mensen erover dat het niet eerlijk was dat Liam Lawson ondanks een paar redelijke/goede weekenden al gelijk werd gekozen voor Ric voor 2024.
  
  Misschien een hot take, maar tenzij Alonso naar Red Bull gaat (wat dus niet gaat gebeuren), zie ik eigenlijk nu weinig reden om Checo te vervangen.

  Ik denk dat het voordeel dat Ricciardo evt. kan hebben gaat over de manier waarop hij een auto bestuurt. Hij was toen hij met Max reed in iedere geval redelijk competitief. De vraag is of dat was omdat Max in een auto reed die niet voor hem gemaakt was en hij om de problemen heen reed, of dat hij en Ricciardo een beetje dezelfde stijl hebben. In het geval van het laatste zal hij ook beter met de auto om kunnen gaan dan Perez.
  
  Maar om hier achter te komen zouden ze alledrie tegen elkaar moeten testen. Alleen biedt de F1 daar niet de ruimte toe omdat daarmee waardevolle testtijd verloren zou gaan.
  
  Misschien hadden ze gewoon na het kampioenschap coureurs moeten wisselen per race? Zou ook nooit gebeuren. Ik denk dan ook dat je gewoon gelijk hebt. Hij heeft ook gewoon nog een contract en gezien de cap is het lastiger om iemand gewoon te vervangen.
