Inkomsten Formule 1 flink gestegen

Het is geen geheim dat de populariteit van de Formule 1 in de afgelopen jaren flink is gestegen. De sport merkt dat op meerdere manieren, zoals bijvoorbeeld door de toegenomen interesse vanuit de fans en commerciële partijen. Ook de inkomsten zijn flink gestegen in het afgelopen kwartaal.

Uit de cijfers van Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media blijkt dat de cijfers in het derde kwartaal van dit jaar flink zijn gestegen ten opzichte van de cijfers uit het derde kwartaal in 2022. Volgens deze cijfers heeft de Formule 1 in het derde kwartaal van 2023 887 miljoen dollar aan inkomsten binnengehaald. Dit is 24 procent hoger dan tijdens het derde kwartaal in 2022, toen lagen de inkomsten dus 172 miljoen dollar lager.

De cijfers van Liberty Media lieten ook zien dat de prijzenpot die over de tien teams wordt verdeeld, ook is gestegen. Deze is in het derde kwartaal namelijk gestegen van 370 naar 432 miljoen dollar. Volgens Liberty Media zijn de cijfers gestegen vanwege de toewijzing van de races op de kalender en de racevergoedingen. In 2023 werden er in het derde kwartaal acht races verreden terwijl dit er in 2022 nog zeven waren. Daarnaast worden er door de organisaties van de Japanse en de Singaporese Grand Prix hoge vergoedingen betaald.
