Vasseur witheet van woede: "Onacceptabele situatie"

Carlos Sainz speelde een ongewilde hoofdrol in de eerste vrije training in Las Vegas. De Spaanse Ferrari-coureur knalde over een loszittend frame van een putdeksel heen en zijn auto raakte zwaar beschadigd. Teambaas Frédéric Vasseur is woedend op de Formule 1.

De eerste vrije training in Las Vegas werd al na een kleine negen minuten stilgelegd. Sainz en Esteban Ocon waren over de putdeksel heengereden en de FIA greep direct in. De training werd afgelast en de tweede vrije training werd uitgesteld. Alle putdeksels op het circuit worden gecontroleerd en bij Ferrari en Alpine zitten ze met de gebakken peren. De schade is enorm en Sainz ontvangt een nieuw chassis en een nieuwe Power Unit.

Onacceptabel

Ferrari-teambaas Frédéric Vasseur moest na afloop van de eerste vrije training verschijnen in de perszaal. Hij had niet bepaald veel zin in de persconferentie, maar hij deelde wel zijn enorme frustratie: "Carlos vertelde meteen dat hij iets op de baan had geraakt. Hij wist niet wat het was, maar de situatie is zo dat we de monocoque, motor en batterij hebben moeten loskoppelen. Het is echt een onacceptabele situatie."

Vasseur wilde niet reageren op andere zaken. De Fransman was witheet van woede en hij haalde keihard uit naar de Formule 1 en de organisatie: "Ik heb geen interesse in het grotere plaatje. Mag ik de persconferentie verlaten? We kenden een slechte sessie en het was fucked up voor Carlos, hij kan zeker niet rijden in de tweede training. De show is de show, maar dit is onacceptabel. De Formule 1 heeft het sportief gezien gewoon shit voor elkaar. Ik weet wel zeker dat het een mooi evenement gaat worden."

Ik begrijp de woede van Vasseur. Miljarden dollars gaan er rond met deze race maar het sportieve aspect lijkt de FIA helemaal vergeten te zijn. Zo bleek bij de FIA niemand zich bedacht de hebben dat het wel erg koud is tijdens zo een spectaculaire nachtrace en dat de banden daar helemaal niet op ... [Lees verder]

Kwalijke zaak voor de FIA. Ze beginnen te lijken op de FiFa.

  welke(vul maar wat in) vond het een goed idee om daar een race te gaan houden? echt.er zijn tientallen mooie banen waar niet gereden wordt,die er voor gemaakt zijn.maar nee,we gaan vrolijk door de drukste stad (1 van de ) ter wereld racen.oke leuk.maar zorg dan wel dat je van te voren alles geregeld hebt.

  Van de andere kant geeft Vasseur gelijk dat ie boos ie. Ze zijn nog steeds in de race voor de 2e plek van het constructeurs kampioenschap. En Ja dan wil Wolff nog wel eens raar uit de hoek komen
