Fanzones gesloten tijdens tweede vrije training Las Vegas

De tribunes bij de tweede vrije training in Las Vegas zullen straks leeg zijn. De organisatie heeft bekend gemaakt dat er geen fans aanwezig kunnen zijn bij de uitgestelde tweede training in de straten van de gokstad. Men wijst naar logistieke overwegingen als aanleiding.

In een statement laat de organisatie van de Grand Prix weten dat alle fanzones in Las Vegas om half twee lokale tijd dichtgaan. De tweede training start om twee uur lokale tijd, dus de fans moeten deze sessie missen. De tweede training werd twee uur uitgesteld omdat Carlos Sainz en Esteban Ocon in de eerste training over een losgeslagen frame van een putdeksel waren gereden. De organisatie wijst logistieke problemen aan als de oorzaak van het sluiten van de fanzones.

      Ik hoorde in een radio nieuwbericht voorbij komen dat de baanmarshalls hier niet blij mee zijn en dreigen met een staking? Iemand anders ook ergens gezien of gehoord?

      Dat klinkt eerder als een onzinbericht @Rogier.

      Wat het issue is dat er vakbonden zijn die voor bepaalde functies het werk na een X tijd niet toestaan. Waarschijnlijk van de stewards en andere begeleiders. Hierdoor kan de veiligheid van zowel de fans als het evenement niet gegarandeerd worden. Dus is de beslissing gemaakt de fans te verwijderen van het evenement.

      Iets wat totaal logisch is, ongeacht de mening hierover. Maar op social media gaan verhalen en beelden rond dat dit door de arm der wet op een nogal hardhandige manier is gebeurd. En de term schoonvegen is er een welke letterlijk is genomen. En dit is totaal onacceptabel natuurlijk.

    Het fiasco wordt steeds groter. Al die duur betaalde tickets zijn dus niets waard. Lege tribunes, om 02.00 midden in de nacht starten. Ik voorspel nog meer ellende. Stel dat er weer een putdeksel los schiet, hoorde verhalen over sneldrogend beton.

      Volgens mij halen ze de deksels met frames er in het geheel uit en vullen het gat op met sneldrogend beton. En dan komen ze er zo dadelijk achter dat dat beton gruis eruit gezogen wordt met alle gevolgen van doen...

    Wel goed dat ze nu al kunnen garanderen dat FP3 "exciting" wordt. Net zoals die interviewer die Vasseur blijft pushen om "geweldig" te roepen m.b.t. de Las Vegas race terwijl een complete auto aan gort gereten wordt door een overstekend putdeksel. Te zielig voor woorden hoe coute que coute dit weekend opgehemeld moet worden. En ik ben het met Max eens, 9 minuten was genoeg om te zien dat dit een saai circuit is... en daar helpen die flikkerlampjes van de stad niks aan.

      Zou ik ook doen, wie weet maak je net zoals in Spa 2021 wel kans op één van de 170 kaarten voor het daarop volgende jaar.
