Hamilton vreest voor 'superzware' start: "Daar zit ik middenin!"

Lewis Hamilton kende vandaag een teleurstellende kwalificatie in Las Vegas. De Britse zevenvoudig wereldkampioen kwam niet door Q2 heen, maar door de straf van Carlos Sainz start hij toch als tiende. Hamilton wil er het beste van maken, maar hij vrees wel voor de eerste bocht.

Het team van Mercedes is bezig met een wisselvallig seizoen. Soms komen Hamilton en zijn teamgenoot George Russell goed voor de dag en soms vallen ze ernstig tegen. In de kwalificatie in de straten van Las Vegas wist Russell de vierde tijd te noteren en daardoor mag hij de race morgen vanaf de derde plaats starten. Hamilton worstelde met zijn auto en dat zorgde ervoor dat hij niet verder kwam dan het middenveld.

Superzwaar

Hamilton maakt zich dan ook zorgen over de eerste ronde van de race. De Brit weet dat het asfalt in Las Vegas zeer weinig grip heeft en dat de temperaturen zeer laag zijn. In gesprek met Motorsport.com spreekt Hamilton zijn zorgen uit: "Het wordt superzwaar en krap richting de eerste bocht. En ik zit daar straks echt middenin! Dus dat is niet helemaal de beste plek om te zijn bij de start van de race."

Afstellingen

Hamilton weet ook dat zijn race anders zal zijn dan de race van zijn teamgenoot George Russell. De zevenvoudig wereldkampioen legt het uit: "Er zijn verschillen in onze afstellingen. Die zijn er trouwens altijd. Ik had het hier gewoon lastig. Gisteren voelde het beter en was ik competitiever. We hebben in de avond wat veranderingen doorgevoerd. Vandaag voelde het niet geweldig."

  Ligt eraan. Als Perez met zijn achterwiel voor het voorwiel van Lewis komt dan gaat hij er 100% zeker vanaf.
  Als het andersom is dan wordt Perez afgeknepen en is het de vraag wie van de twee de meeste schade heeft. In dat geval is het 50/50 wie als eerste gaat.
  Onderaan de streep is het dus 75% kans dat Perez er als eerste en enige afvliegt en 25% kans dat ze er samen afgaan.

  Alonso kan Hamilton niet uitstaan en zal daarom deze gelegenheid aangrijpen om hem het leven extra zuur te maken. Het beloofd inderdaad een spectaculaire openingsfase van de race te worden🍿🍿🍿

  Ik geloof geen moment dat Alonso bij de start persoonlijke dingen laat meespelen en dus meer op Lewis gaat focussen. Alonso gaat gewoon voor zichzelf een zo goed mogelijke start gaan maken en waar Lewis dan zit ziet hij later wel eens.

  Overduidelijk is dat juist ook andersom. Maar voor mij hoeft er geen chaos te ontstaan. Ik hoop vooral op strijd tussen een aantal rijders.
