Ferrari roept FIA op om regels duidelijker te maken

Het team van Ferrari wil in Abu Dhabi de tweede plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap van Mercedes gaan afpakken. De Italiaanse renstal is bezig met een lastig seizoen waarin ze zeer wisselvallig presteren. Bij het team zijn ze redelijk tevreden, maar ze willen we dat de regels duidelijker worden.

Ferrari is tot nu toe het enige team dat het oppermachtige Red Bull Racing wist te verslaan. In Singapore schreef Carlos Sainz de race op zijn naam en sindsdien gaat het steeds beter met Ferrari. In de afgelopen paar raceweekenden hebben ze flinke stappen gezet en hebben ze het gat het concurrent Mercedes flink verkleind. In Abu Dhabi kunnen ze die strijd in hun voordeel gaan beslissen.

2021

Ferrari-kopstuk John Elkann is tevreden met de huidige resultaten van het team. Hij wil echter wel dat er wordt gekeken naar de regels in de Formule 1. In gesprek met de BBC doet hij een oproep aan de FIA: "Je wil niet dat er weer dingen gaan gebeuren als bij de kampioensrace in 2021. Je wil ook niet zulke situaties hebben zoals wij hier hadden in Vegas waar we een gridstraf van tien plaatsen kregen."

Duidelijkheid

Elkann wil dat er meer duidelijkheid gaat komen vanuit de FIA. Het kopstuk van Ferrari stelt dat er nog veel onduidelijkheden zijn in de regelboeken en dat er op bepaalde punten een aantal dingen veel beter te begrijpen moeten worden: "Als je kijkt naar de toepassingen van de regels en naar wat we hebben gezien met de budgetcap, dan zijn dat punten waarop je meer duidelijkheid zou willen zien."

De regels zijn op dit moment super helder, zeker gezien afgelopen race. Probleem is dat juist die helderheid de "geest van de wet" heeft vermoord en er geen uitzonderingen mogelijk zijn.

Dat kan je wel niet willen, maar een paar dingen is het huidige ’Nee’ wel, en dat is hartstikke duidelijk en consequent.
