F1 Commission stemt in met wijzingen sprintformat

Er lijkt iets meer duidelijkheid te zijn gekomen over de regels voor de aankomende jaren. De F1 Commission is namelijk akkoord gegaan met een aantal zaken, zo werd bekend na afloop van de eerste vrije training in Abu Dhabi. Er werd een akkoord bereikt over onder meer de bandenwarmers en de sprintweekenden.

De F1 Commission kwam vandaag bij elkaar in Abu Dhabi. Er zijn meerdere beslissingen genomen. De commissie heeft steun gegeven aan een aanpassing voor het sprintformat in 2024. Dat betekent dat de sprint nog meer los komt te staan van de rest van het raceweekend, op welke manier dat gaat gebeuren is nog niet bekend. De details over deze aanpassing en mogelijke nieuwe parc ferme-regels worden nog verder uitgewerkt.

Bandenwarmers

Verder zijn er ook uitspraken gedaan over bandenwarmers en het ontwikkelen van de nieuwe auto's voor 2026. De F1 Commission is het erover eens geworden om de bandenwarmers voorlopig niet in de ban te doen. Dat betekent dat ze ook in 2025 nog gebruikt kunnen worden. Ze zijn ook van mening dat er pas in 2025 gestart mag worden met het ontwikkelen van de auto voor 2026.

Wielkasten & hitte

Verder heeft men ermee ingestemd om in 2024 verder te gaan met het testen van wielkasten die spray tegen kunnen gaan. Eerder dit jaar werd hier ook al mee getest, maar nu wordt het concept verder ontwikkeld. Men heeft daarnaast ook besloten om naar aanleiding van de hitte in Qatar, te kijken naar nieuwe mogelijkheden om de coureurs te koelen in warme omstandigheden. Alle beslissingen moeten nog wel worden goedgekeurd door het World Motor Sport Council.

De wielkasten die spray tegen gaan zie ik niet zo een twee drie voor mij, waar willen ze met dat water heen dan? Onder de auto duwen is geen optie, ouderwetse spatlappen?..

  @mtr, dan kun je stoppen met racen vermoed ik, want dan komt er buiten de rijlijn nog meer water te staan terwijl dat nu als een spray zich verdeeld op en naast de baan

  @Freek zag het ook niet als hele reële optie maar meer als gaaf beeld. Zie het als vrijdagmiddag hersenflierpje haha. Het was met het idee dan dat het dus hard genoeg naar de zijkanten afgevoerd wordt / spuit door de snelheid waarbij een groot gedeelte dus inderdaad van de baan af gaat. zodat het "opdrogend" effect van de autos erover laten rijden blijft. De manier waarop ik het voor me zie maakt inhalen bij die regen niet echt mogelijk omdat je dan de auto van je tegenstander aan het waterstralen bent :')

De vermaledijde sprintrace wordt op de woensdag na de GP verreden en de punten tellen mee in het Fries Kampioenschap Fierljeppen...
