Sainz baalt van crash: "Voelde mij een passagier"

Carlos Sainz was één van de weinige coureurs die in alle twee de vrije trainingen in actie kwam in Abu Dhabi. Hij speelde echter een negatieve hoofdrol op deze dag, want hij crashte in de tweede vrije training. Hij crashte hard, maar Sainz laat weten dat hij helemaal in orde is.

Aan het begin van de tweede vrije training in Abu Dhabi ging het mis bij Sainz. De Spaanse Ferrari-coureur reed over een hobbeltje en daarna verloor hij de macht over het stuur. Sainz schoof zeer hard de tec pro barrier in en de schade was enorm. Niet alleen de auto was beschadigd, maar ook de tec pro had veel schade. Door de reparatiewerkzaamheden aan de muur lag de training geruime tijd stil.

Geen zorgen

Sainz baalde vanzelfsprekend van zijn crash in de training. De Spanjaard heeft er echter niet aan overgehouden en hij spreekt zich uit bij de internationale media: "Ik voel mij goed. Het was best een grote crash, maar uiteindelijk kom je er in deze veilige auto's reden ongeschonden vanaf als je hard van de baan vliegt. Ik heb natuurlijk wel een beetje pijn, maar daar hoef je je echt geen zorgen over te maken."

Passagier

Sainz gooide met zijn crash wel de plannen van Ferrari in de prullenbak. Hij had namelijk de hoop om een aantal aanpassingen uit te testen: "We hadden zeker een aantal dingen veranderd tussen de trainingen. Die hadden misschien wel een effect op mijn crash, maar ik ga niet op de details in. Ik kon de auto jammer genoeg niet onder controle krijgen. Ik verloor hem gewoon en op dat soort momenten voel je je een passagier. Je wenst dan dat je iets anders had gedaan."
