'Mercedes aangeklaagd door gebruikers failliete sponsor'

Het team van Mercedes reed enkele jaren rond met sponsor-stickers van het in opspraak geraakte bedrijf FTX. Nadat dit bedrijf failliet ging haalde Mercedes de stickers weg en sneden ze de banden met FTX door. Nu lijkt het er echter op dat de zaak een staartje krijgt voor Mercedes, want ze worden aangeklaagd.

In 2021 en 2022 reed het team van Mercedes rond met de sponsoring van cryptobeurs FTX. Het bedrijf werd opgericht door Sam Bankman-Fried en het had al snel een miljardenwaarde. Het leek dus een goede deal te zijn voor Mercedes, maar toen FTX ineens failliet ging, ging het mis. Mercedes verwijderde de stickers snel van de auto, maar Bankman-Fried werd gearresteerd en hij werd aangeklaagd wegens onder meer bankfraude en witwassen.

Mercedes trok de handen van de zaak af, maar nu krijgen ze mogelijk toch problemen. Volgens SportBusiness wordt Mercedes namelijk aangeklaagd door een groep gebruikers van FTX. Mercedes zou niet de enige zijn die voor de rechter wordt gesleept, want ook de MLB en sporters Tom Brady, Shaquille O'Neal en zelfs Cristiano Ronaldo zijn betrokken bij deze zaak. Het is niet helemaal duidelijk waarom Mercedes wordt aangeklaagd door de gebruikers. De renstal trok de handen in ieder geval al snel van de deal met FTX af.

      Pas op wat je zegt Beemerdude, RB heeft ook een cryptosponser en kritiek op een Nederlandse rijder wordt hier niet gewaardeerd.

      @Gridion; das geen probleem want ik zie RBR als best sympathiek F1 team (net als veel teams) maar sympathie & Mercedes in 1 zin krijg ik niet uit m’n bek, ik vind het een pauperteam. Net als hun straatauto’s, dun in de lak, niet te polijsten en alles wat je los haalt breekt af. Kortom, het moet heel wat lijken maar tis rotzooi.

Dat was tegen de afspraken en dus eigenlijk een ongeldige deal. De gesponsorde partijen worden in gebreke gesteld omdat die gefaald hebben te controleren waar het geld vandaan kwam en of ze gerechtigd waren om dat geld daaraan uit te geven. Ze willen dus zo afdwingen dat al die sponsorbijdrages terug betaald wordt aan de curatoren die dat geld kunnen aanwenden om de gedupeerden terug te betalen.

      De gesponsorden zijn mag ik aannemen te goeder trouw geweest en ook geen directe partij van de benadeelden..........maar ja in amerika proberen ze alles.
