Ferrari-kopstuk hint op contractverlenging Sainz en Leclerc

Het lijkt er sterk op dat Ferrari snel de contracten van Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc gaat verlengen. Beide coureurs beschikken nog over een aflopend contract, maar alle partijen staan open voor een nieuwe deal. John Elkann heeft zijn mond in ieder geval al voorbij gepraat.

Leclerc en Sainz beschikken momenteel allebei over een contract dat eind 2024 afloopt. Beide coureurs gaven aan dat ze zo snel mogelijk met Ferrari in gesprek willen gaan over een nieuw contract. Ferrari beleefde dit jaar een redelijk seizoen waarin ze derde werden in het constructeurskampioenschap en in Singapore wonnen met Sainz. Beide coureurs maakten een aardige indruk en Ferrari lijkt ook niet naar andere opties te kijken.

Contractverlenging

Ferrari-kopstuk John Elkann lijkt nu zijn mond voorbij te hebben gepraat. Op een bijeenkomst van de investeringsmaatschappij Exor, eigendom van de familie Agnelli, bevestigde Elkann dat alles er goed uitziet. In gesprek met persbureau Italpress was de zakenman nogal duidelijk: "Sainz en Leclerc? Die blijven zeker weten voor ons rijden. Vanuit onze kant is er een grote bereidheid om door te gaan met hen."

Kritisch

Elkann was daarnaast ook kritisch op het afgelopen seizoen van Ferrari. Hij stelt dat het een teleurstellend jaar was omdat ze slechts derde werden in het constructeurskampioenschap. Hij sluit zijn verhaal wel af met een positief slot: "In het laatste kwart van het seizoen vochten we serieus mee om de tweede plaats en we konden ook meevechten met het team van Red Bull Racing. We hebben ook meerdere pole positions gepakt."

  Precies, dus als Sainz ongeveer hetzelfde presteert als Leclerc dan verdient hij ook ongeveer hetzelfde, alleen ontvangt hij dat niet...

Leclerc is wel het minste probleem bij Ferrari.
Geef die jongen de snelste auto en dan gaan we het zien. Waar blijven die grote namen nou Fred?! Ik wacht geduldig af.
