Pirelli onthult compoundkeuze voor eerste races 2024

Het Formule 1-seizoen is net voorbij, maar bandenleverancier Pirelli heeft de eerste knopen voor 2024 nu al doorgehakt. De Italiaanse bandenleverancier heeft namelijk al de compoundkeuze gemaakt voor de eerste drie races van het aanstaande seizoen. Ze hebben er daarnaast ook voor gekozen om één compound te schrappen.

Pirelli heeft namelijk bekend gemaakt dat er één compound verdwijnt voor het aankomende seizoen. Dit jaar maakte ze voor elk weekend nog een keuze uit de C0, C1, C2, C3, C4 en C5. Voor volgend jaar is er één keuze minder, want ze hebben besloten om de C0 te schrappen. Dat betekent dus dat er iets minder keuze is, maar Pirelli kan alsnog voor veel opvallende opties gaan kiezen in 2024.

De compoundselecties voor de raceweekenden in Bahrein, Saoedi-Arabië en Australië zijn in ieder geval al bekend. Pirelli heeft maanden voor de start van het nieuwe seizoen de knoop al doorgehakt. In Bahrein wordt er gereden met de C1, C2 en de C3. In Jeddah rijden de coureurs voor het eerst in 2024 met de C4, ook de C2 en de C3 worden dan uit de kast gehaald. Op het circuit van Albert Park wordt er gekozen voor de C3, C3 en de C5. Tijdens de wintertest krijgen de coureurs de kans om met alle compounds te rijden.

Misschien kunnen ze de C3 een keertje thuis laten en zo een verspringing in de compounds hebben?

Ze kunnen beter de pitstop tijd verkorten. Nu kost het 20s, als ze dat naar 10s weten te werken dan krijg je betere races en minder bandengespaar. Moet je wel de pit exit verleggen op een hoop circuits.

De regenbanden worden niet verder ontwikkeld omdat Pirelli in 2024 de regen afschrapt...

Blijf het belachelijk vinden dat een bandenmaker uitmaakt welke banden een coureur gaat gebruiken. Ze horen dat aan de teams over te laten (volgens mijn bescheiden mening)...
