'Audi maakt einde aan onzekerheid en zet Formule 1-project door'

Het lijkt er niet op dat Audi de stekker gaat trekken uit de Formule 1-plannen. De Duitse fabrikant heeft zich aangemeld om deel te nemen aan de sport vanaf 2026, maar er was onzekerheid. Er gingen in de afgelopen maanden namelijk geruchten rond over een mogelijke terugtreding van Audi, maar die verhalen lijken nu uit de lucht te zijn.

Vorig jaar maakte Audi bekend dat ze vanaf 2026 gaan deelnemen aan de koningsklasse van de autosport. Audi zal krachtbronnen gaan ontwikkelen en ze gaan samenwerken met het team van Sauber. De Zwitserse renstal wordt dan een fabrieksteam, maar er bestond eventjes twijfel over het project. Audi stelde namelijk een nieuwe CEO aan in de persoon van Gernot Döllner. Hij zou naar verluidt geen fan zijn van de Formule 1-plannen.

Hierdoor ontstond er grote twijfel over de Formule 1-ambities van Audi. Het merk en Döllner spraken zich er niet over uit, maar de twijfel bleef bestaan. Uit een reportage van het Duitse medium Manager Magazin blijkt echter dat de Formule 1-plannen nog springlevend zijn. Het medium meldt dat Döllner tijdens een bijeenkomst in november groen licht heeft gegeven voor het project. Het medium meldt in de reportage dat een medewerker tijdens de bijeenkomst aan hoofd ontwikkeling Oliver Hoffmann vroeg hoe het zat met de geruchten. Hij verklaarde dat Audi zich niet terugtrekt en Döllner sprak dat niet tegen.

Porsche werd het F1nally ook al niet . . . zitten duidelijk in dezelfde groep.
