Red Bull wil pitstoprecord van McLaren afpakken

Het team van Red Bull Racing kende dit jaar een recordbrekend seizoen. Toch verloren ze ook één record. Het team van McLaren verbrak het record van de snelste pitstop. Bij Red Bull reageren ze sportief, maar ze willen het record wel terug gaan pakken.

Het team van McLaren toonde dit jaar aan dat ze tot de top behoren bij de pitstops. De pitcrew van de Britse renstal brak records met het wisselen van de banden. In Qatar voerden ze een razendsnelle pitstop uit bij de auto van Lando Norris. De Brit werd na 1,80 seconden weer op pad gestuurd met een vers setje banden. Het was een nieuw record en bij McLaren zijn ze daar apetrots op.

Petje af

Bij Red Bull reageren ze sportief op het feit dat ze dit record kwijt zijn. Sportief directeur Jonathan Wheatley heeft een flinke vinger in de pap bij de pitstops en reageert dan ook op het McLaren-record. In de podcast 'Talking Bull' reageert hij grappend: "Na een paar weken therapie ben ik er klaar voor om hier over te praten! Nee, het was een geweldige pitstop van de McLaren-crew. Petje af, want ze hebben het geweldig gedaan."

Terugpakken

Wheatley geeft wel aan dat zijn team zo snel mogelijk het record wil terugpakken van McLaren. De sportief directeur van Red Bull wil het liefst het beste gemiddelde hebben, maar het record staat wel op de to-do-list: "Op een gegeven moment zal alles een keertje gaan samenvallen. Ik zou vanzelfsprekend liegen als ik zou zeggen dat het voor ons geen doel is om dit record weer in handen te krijgen."

Ik heb die video bekeken. Prio 1 is altijd voor Red Bull gemiddeld de beste zijn in de pit stops. En uiteraard is het voor hun een eer om weer de snelste te zijn.
Is wel een nuance anders dan dat ze het record willen afpakken.
De video gaf ook wat meer inzicht over het leven van huis in de F1.
